The date is finally upon us: Windows 10 officially reached its end of support on October 14, 2025. So what does this mean for your organization? There are four major impacts of Windows 10 End of Support (EOS).

What is Windows 10 ESU?

For organizations that cannot complete their transition to Windows 11 before the October 2025 deadline, Microsoft provides Extended Security Updates (ESUs). This paid program delivers critical security patches for up to three additional years. Designed for businesses with complex infrastructures or legacy applications, the ESU program ensures continued protection for Windows 10 systems through 2028. Pricing begins at $61 per device for the first year, with annual costs increasing to encourage timely migration to Windows 11.

The first update for ESU Year 1 will be released in November 2025. ESU Year 1 extends security updates until October 2026, covering only critical patches (no new features).
